Getting to Kelp Shore House

Kelp Shore House is a 10–15 minute flat walk from the ferry terminal.

When you step off the ferry, turn right and follow the harbour road past the beach and the bar. Continue around the corner onto the shore road, passing the Gort Beag houses.

Keep walking alongside the field with the stone wall and past the stony beach. You will see the ruins of the Kelp House on the shoreline.

Kelp Shore House is the blue building just across and slightly up from it.

Frequently asked questions:

  • You can check in anytime after 2pm. If you need to drop your bags in before 2pm you must contact us to arrange this before you arrive.

  • On your day of departure you must vacate the building by 10am. If you require a late check out you must contact us before your stay to arrange this.

  • Yes we provide a towel for each member of your group. These towels must stay in the house. If you require beach towels please bring them with you.

  • Yes, you can get basic groceries in the Rathlin Co-op shop. Details of where to eat out. Please check opening hours for all of the above, especially out of season.

  • Yes, but there are restrictions in place to limit the number of vehicles on Rathlin Island.

    Visitors must be staying for more than 6 nights to bring a vehicle. However, there are no restrictions for Blue Badge holders, who may bring their car regardless of the length of their stay.
